History of the Apid
The African Intellectual Property Organization (OAPI) created in December 2004 during the 44th ordinary session of its board of directors held in Cotonou in Benin, a training, research and sharing center specializing in intellectual property called Denis Ekani training center (CFDE).
The center whose activities were launched on September 13, 2005 will become an intellectual property academy Denis Ekani (APIDE) on the occasion of the 52nd ordinary session of the organization of the organization held in Bissau in Guinea Bissau in 2012. The Academy owes its name to Maître Denis Ekani, former director general of OAPI from 1965 to 1984.

Missions
The main missions of the Apid is the training, research and popularization of knowledge in terms of intellectual property. As such, she is responsible:
- organize cycles of intellectual property studies;
- ensure permanent training and recycling of actors and users of the intellectual property system;
- organize courses and training seminars covering the various aspects of intellectual property and related areas;
- to organize meetings on current issues of intellectual property law;
- to initiate and promote studies on news issues in intellectual property law.
The apide has a documentation center with a diversity of works relating to intellectual property and related subjects.
Training offers
The Academy has a varied offer of training implemented in collaboration with universities, grandes écoles and partner offices and organizations. The apide training offer is structured as follows:
- diploma training;
- certifying training;
- OAPI tribune;
- Webinaries;
- training on demand.
Pedagogy and quality
The pedagogical approach of the apide is based on an approach-quality built around excellence:
- From the faculty: APIDE benefits from the support of the best specialists from African and European universities in OAPI technical services, national liaison structures (SNL) with OAPI, partner offices and institutions, aged aged aged aged and partner institutions. These experts contribute to developing and consolidating the diversity and expertise of the tender offers of the apide.
- Infrastructure: the training sessions take place as well at the apide at the OAPI headquarters which has quality infrastructure and equipment, in member and online states.

Governance
The apide has a scientific committee of seven (07) members made up of academics, professionals and representatives of the OAPI appointed by the organization's board of directors for a mandate of two (02) years of renewable and a management responsible for administrative and educational management.
