For better operating IGP at "Bandiagara Achalotte"

As a prelude to the official ceremony for the delivery of the IGP registration certificate "Bandiagara shallot" on July 20, 2023 in Bamako, the Secretary General of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry of the Republic of Mali - representative of the Minister, solemnly opened the awareness and training workshop on governance and management of IGP.
Stressing in his speech, the importance of this recognition for these specific products belonging to craft, cultural and even agricultural heritages, it promotes a development of their commercial potential for the economic development of our states. This workshop aims to allow the actors, to soak up the regulations for the use of the OAPI logo on their IGP in their business practices and their defense in the event of involvement.
While welcoming the many efforts of the OAPI through its director general Denis Bohoussou, in order to provide solutions to the development challenges of the member states, the secretary general congratulated the strong presence of participants in this workshop including that of the president of the Bandiagara circle, the director of the Malian Center for the Promotion of Industrial Property (CEMAPI), IG group representatives, as well as producers.
As a reminder, "the Bandiagara shallot" was officially recorded at the OAPI as a protected geographical indication on June 4, 2021, the first of its kind for Mali. In addition to the pineapple bread of sugar from the Allada-Bénin plateau, the purple of Galmi and the kilichi of Niger, the saponé hat of Burkina Faso, this recording carries the number of IGP of the member states of the OAPI in number, as part of the first phase of the Pampig.
