The city of Luanda in Angola welcomed the regional seminar on the exchange of good practices in the fight against counterfeiting for the Lusophone African countries from 27 to 29, 2025. In this wake, the OAPI counts within its area, Guinea Bissau as a member state of Portuguese expression.
The expert Sonia Audrey Tekam, lawyer at the management of brands and other distinctive signs of the OAPI took part and intervened on the various means of anti-counterfeit control put to contribution by the organization in the face of global economic issues and the interest of joining the current initiatives for more security in distribution circuits.
Cooperate to coordinate an effective and inclusive control strategy
Organized by the intellectual property law project in Africa (Afripi) in partnership with the Portuguese Office de vocaux Industrielle (INPI) and the Angolan Industrial Property Office (IAPI), the workshop was an important step in pooling actions between European and African countries, to facilitate the coordination of an effective strategy to be deployed.
The sharing of experiences and expertise between the various stakeholders have offered to establish an inventory of the fight against counterfeiting applied around the world and to give the different suitable tools which would help countries to better protect intellectual property rights by holding their national contexts
. Through this initiative, the OAPI invests in the upgrading in the fight against counterfeiting in its member states in order to promote a profitable business climate which reassures economic operators and consumers.
