Our proximity commitment

For more than two decades, the OAPI has been involved in the creation and development of intellectual property documentation centers (CDPI) in order to bring its user services closer to each Member State. These centers constitute an essential link in our territorial strategy and our mission to promote intellectual property in the member states.

Mission and target audience

The CDPIs are fundamental to disseminate information in terms of intellectual property to several user groups:

Inventors and researchers: access to the state of the technique in their fields of innovation
Economic operators: identification of appropriate technologies through patents issued by OAPI
Companies and craftsmen: monitoring of trends and competitive positioning
Academic environment: documentary resources for university work and research

Services offered

The construction and commissioning of CDPIs in our Member States illustrates the will of the OAPI to provide effective tools for the dissemination of scientific and technical information. Each center offers:

Specialized documentation based on several million documents
Access to the databases of industrial property securities issued by the OAPI (patents, brands, drawings and industrial models, commercial names)
Official publications and texts of the organization (legal framework, Official intellectual property bulletin, patent booklets, practical guides)
Personalized support for documentary research
A technological watch service to anticipate sectoral developments
