The International Inventions Show in Geneva 2025 has once again devoted the excellence of African innovation thanks to the unwavering support of the African Intellectual Property Organization (OAPI). During this 50th edition which was held from 09 to 13 April 2025, the inventors supported by the OAPI brilliantly represented the OAPI on the world stage of innovation.
Gabon at the top of international innovation
True to its tradition of excellence, the OAPI has selected and accompanied this year a quality Gabonese invention which conquered the international jury. Three talented Gabonese co-inventors were rewarded with the gold medal and an honor diploma for their prototype: the "intelligent electricity counter and its management system".
This prestigious distinction goes to Ongono Sow Amadou Louis Fabrice , Badanga Badanga Ulrich Fabrice and Omengue Joel , who for the occasion, were accompanied by Debbe Salem Zeine , head of patents and vegetable obtaining at the OAPI.
An avant-garde technological solution to transform the African energy sector
The award -winning intelligent counter is distinguished by its multiple innovative features which meet the current energy challenges of the continent:
• Reinforced security : sophisticated detection of the state of the network, attempted theft and fraud
• Optimized management : real -time notifications and intuitive user interface via mobile application and USSD service
• advanced technology : artificial intelligence algorithms allowing precise consumption predictions
• Intelligent reporting : detailed analysis and visualization of consumption data
• Financial flexibility : Credit electricity options with prepaid or post-paaye invoicing adapted to local needs
This innovation represents a major advance for the democratization of access to electricity in Africa, combining cutting -edge technology and practical solutions adapted to local realities.
OAPI: Innovation catalyst for the development of member states
This new gold medal enriches the already impressive list of African inventors supported by the OAPI at the Geneva Motor Show. This success testifies to the continuous commitment of the organization to promote technological innovation as an engine of development in states.
