147th annual meeting of the International Brands Association (Inta) in California (USA), OAPI was present from April 17 to 21, 2025 at the 2016 stand of the San Diego Congress Center.
Bringing together a multitude of participants from all over the world, annual inta meetings are opportunities to create networking, targeted training and professional development platforms in the application of brands law, the fight against unfair competition and counterfeiting, to promote commercial development.
Interviews with visitors to present the opportunities of the OAPI system
During these five days of visibility, we had the pleasure of receiving at our stand, the Director General of the Office of Intellectual Property of Canada (OPIC), Konstantinos Geogaras. Among other visitors who spoke with our expert Mercy Masok Asima Head of International Cooperation Service, and some of our approved agents present by our side, the exchanges focused on:
• OAPI system benefits to ensure legal and economic protection for brand depositors;
• Recent reforms related to the examination as to the bottom of the marks;
• Classification tools to be used when registering for legal protection at OAPI and internationally and;
• The advice of agents on the various PI services offered regarding support for investors and companies who wish to conquer the OAPI market.
To strengthen an ecosystem conducive to economic growth
The OAPI zone is a large market offering many business opportunities; In order to encourage trade and investment by promoting security in distribution circuits, OAPI continuously activates its PI system and simplifying registration procedures.
The global demographic is evolving, the needs of populations are changing and international trade intensifies. In the same movement, new products and services are created and new brands penetrate the market. It is essential to make economic operators more aware of intellectual property rights (PI) in particular those who fall under brands, and to reassure consumers by trusted brands.
