The 139th edition of International Workers' Day was a moment of reflection through the lens of "social dialogue as a pillar of performance at OAPI" .
The joint efforts for the growth of OAPI between top management, all staff, and the branches in member states were celebrated on May 1, 2025, around three interconnected points: workplace ergonomics, a harmonious social climate, and professional performance. This performance is further evidenced by the increasing production of industrial property titles, a result of the daily commitment of the key personnel.
Creating a common core between social dialogue and conviviality,
Because dialogue also means sharing warm moments, two flagship activities marked this celebration at OAPI;
• A gala match was held on April 30, 2025, between the Marque FC team, captained by Aurélien KENNE, Head of Information Systems Operations, and Brevet FC, led by Hervé KAMGA, IT Manager. It was a moment of social cohesion that once again helped bring all the staff together in a shared atmosphere. The winner: OAPI !
• A conference enlivened by festivities which offered exchanges to commemorate the struggles for workers' rights but also to welcome the important progress already made so far in creating better working conditions in an environment of social peace without which all effort is in vain.
A mapping of social dialogue and performance at OAPI
To engage the audience on the day's topic, Ms. MBOUZIE AHANDA Angélique Salomé, Head of the Standards and International Labour Cooperation Division at the Ministry of Labour and Social Security of Cameroon, stated: "OAPI is showing much improved performance, so if the elements of social dialogue are successful, performance automatically increases as well."
Speaking through the management team in his capacity as staff representative, Mr. ESSOMBA, staff representative, said: “Since our term in office, there have indeed been significant advances. Certainly, all work remains to be perfected, there are still some grievances to be addressed, but for the moment the social climate is evolving quite positively.”
Speaking on behalf of the Director General, Deputy Director General Mondésir OUALOU PANOUALA paid tribute to the OAPI staff, to whom all the credit for the Organization's influence and the trust placed in them by the Board of Directors belongs. He also encouraged them to continue giving their best: social dialogue at OAPI is a constant reality to prevent crises, and every contribution, whatever its size, is essential for everyone's success .
This 139th edition of the International Workers' Day at OAPI ended on a note of hope and challenges still to be met, which require the mobilization of all, to make OAPI a modern and efficient organization at the service of its member states.
