July 15, 2025, a new strategic day for the OAPI engaged in a series of high -level meetings on the sidelines of the Member States of the OMPI in Geneva . These exchanges have made it possible to consolidate existing partnerships, to explore new avenues of collaboration and to tackle key challenges for the development of intellectual property (PI) in Africa.
Dialogue reinforced with the OMPIC
The day started with a meeting between the director general Denis Bohoussou and Abdelaziz Babqiqi , general manager of the OMPIC . The two counterparts praised the dynamics of cooperation between their institutions, particularly in the fields of training, human resources, promotion of PI systems and support for innovation and SMEs.
They have agreed with future concrete steps including a bilateral meeting provided in Yaoundé , with a particular emphasis on the sharing of strategies aimed at strengthening the protection of PI assets by entrepreneurs.
First exchanges with the new head of ipos Singapore
In the same day, Mr. Bohoussou also met the director general of IPOS , Tan Hwee Kong . This first contact made it possible to lay the foundations for future cooperation focused on capacity building and sharing tool assessment tools. Objective, promote better valuation of these assets as levers for access to financing for start-ups and SMEs in OAPI member states.
Strategic exchanges with the OMPI
To close the agenda of the day, a working lunch brought together the OAPI delegation and the vice-director general of the OMPI in charge of brands, drawings and models, Binying Wang .
The discussions focused on the strategy for promoting industrial drawings and models in OAPI member states , as well as the optimization of international demand processing tools, especially with regard to geographic indications .

These meetings were also an opportunity for Mr. Bohoussou, to invite his interlocutors to the flagship events of the OAPI this year:
- The OAPI board of directors , scheduled for December.
- Apid intellectual academy ;
- The OAPI brand Awards , from October 8 to 10 in Libreville ;
