Degree-granting programs

Two (02) diploma programs are
organized by APIDE. These are:

I- MASTER'S DEGREE IN INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY LAW:

Co-organized with the University of Yaoundé II and the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) and comprising three (03) specializations:

Intellectual property law and new technologies (lawyers);
Applied industrial property (scientists and engineers);
Economics and management of intellectual property (economists, accountants, financiers).

II- PROFESSIONAL MASTER'S DEGREE IN ENGINEERING - CERTIFICATE:

Co-organised with the Félix Houphouët BOIGNY National Polytechnic Institute of Yamoussoukro (Ivory Coast).

I.1. MASTER'S DEGREE IN INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY

Yaoundé (Cameroon), October 2025 – June 2026
Training objective:
To provide administrations, public and private companies and research and teaching institutions of member states with competent managers in the field of intellectual property.

Specific objectives:

Students must be able to, upon completion of the training:

• To understand the importance and role of the intellectual property system;
• To master the different strategies for protecting and leveraging intangible creations;
• To define and apply the procedures for obtaining
and defending intellectual property titles;
• To organize the intellectual property function within a company;
• To develop and negotiate cooperation agreements and technology and know-how transfer contracts;
• To design development programs integrating intellectual property for the benefit of states and businesses.

Career opportunities
  • Specialist in intellectual property in government departments, research centers and institutes and collective management organizations for copyright;
  • In charge of value creation;
  • Patent engineers;
  • University and college teachers;
  • Judges, lawyers, specialized business lawyers;
  • Authorised representative before the offices of
    12 industrial property;

  • Actors in technological development.
Eligibility requirements
  • Hold at least a master's degree or equivalent in law, economics, science or an engineering degree issued by a recognized university or higher education institution;
  • To be able to follow courses in French
    or English.
  • Choose one of the following three specializations based on the candidate's profile:
Intellectual property law and new technologies (lawyers);
Applied industrial property (scientists and engineers);
Economics and management of IP (economists, accountants, financiers).

I.2. Professional Master's Degree in Engineering - Patent

Yamoussoukro (Ivory Coast),
January-December 2025

General objective

To equip Member States with strong skills in the area of ​​patents for invention and the exploitation of technological information contained in patent documents and other sources of technical information for the purposes of technological and industrial development.

Educational objectives

Upon completion of the training, students should be able to:
– Master the patent document, its use and its valorization;
– Examine patent applications;
– Search for and interpret the technical information contained in patent documents in databases;
– Write an effective patent application for an invention;
– Ensure technological monitoring in the areas of the company's activity.

Target audience

Holders of engineering degrees, a
master's degree or equivalent qualifications in the field
of science and technology.

Program Content

– Part 1: Virtual instruction
– Part 2: In-person instruction at the Félix Houphouët-Boigny National Institute
– Part 3: Practical internship and thesis defense

Eligibility requirements

Candidates must meet the following conditions:
be no more than 30 years old at the time of application;
– hold a degree of at least BAC+5 level in the following fields: physics, chemistry, engineering, pharmacy, biotechnology, natural sciences, programming,
electronics, electrotechnics or any other technical field;
– commit to disseminating the knowledge acquired in the program within their organization;
– be proficient in computer skills;
– have knowledge of English.
