a. Definition of neighboring rights

Related rights originate from a work protected by copyright and are similar to it in certain respects. Their purpose is to protect the legal interests of certain natural or legal persons who contribute to making works accessible to the public.

b. Beneficiaries of neighboring rights

These people can be divided into three groups:

  • Performing artists (singers, actors, dancers, musicians, etc.);
  • Producers of phonograms or videograms;
  • Broadcasting organizations or audiovisual communication companies.
