Invention Funding Mechanism

Faced with the major challenge of funding, which hinders the commercialization of inventions in our member states, OAPI has established an innovative mechanism approved by the Board of Directors. This mechanism aims to:

Actively support technological development through the commercialization of patents
Create a robust ecosystem for consolidating and leveraging innovations
Mobilizing considerable financial resources with our partners

In partnership with the African Guarantee Fund (AGF), this mechanism will unlock up to 40 billion CFA francs of access to financing, with the prospect of supporting 1000 projects over five years , generating a significant impact on the economic development of our member states.

PFPSPI Program: Financing of Structuring Projects

Our PFPSPI program supports structuring projects integrating intellectual property tools in Member States. Eligible initiatives include:

Aligned with national development priorities
Contributing to wealth creation with a multiplier effect (territorial, national or regional)
Embedded in an innovation ecosystem or a cluster of actors
Leveraging intellectual property assets (patents, trademarks, designs, geographical indications)

Beneficiaries: local administrations, community organizations, research centers, public institutions, clusters of artisans or producers.
