Missions

The OAPI's missions are:

The issuance of industrial property titles;
The contribution to the promotion of the protection of literary and artistic property;
The provision of documentation and the dissemination of information;
Training in intellectual property;
Participation in the economic development of member states.

Goals

OAPI must contribute to achieving the objectives of the industrial development policies of the Member States, by achieving the following specific objectives:

To ensure the protection and publication of industrial property titles;
Encourage creativity and technology transfer through the use of industrial property systems;
To make the legal space attractive to private investment by creating conditions favorable to the effective application of intellectual property principles;
Promote a uniform system for the protection of literary and artistic property;
Implement effective training programs to improve the OAPI system's capacity to provide quality services;
To create favorable conditions for the valorization of research results and the exploitation of technological innovations by national companies.
