The African Exhibition of Invention and Innovative Enterprise (SAIIT): Propelling African innovation towards excellence

A showcase for the continent's inventors and innovators

As a catalyst for technological development, OAPI works to stimulate research and innovation in its member states. Aware of the fundamental role of intellectual property in the industrialization process, particularly through patents, the Organization has created an instrument of excellence to reveal and promote high-potential inventions and innovative companies: the African Invention and Innovative Enterprise Fair (SAIIT) .

An unmissable event for African creativity

Inaugurated in Dakar in 1997, this major event showcasing African inventiveness and creativity has since expanded to around ten capitals of OAPI member states. Organized in principle every two years, the SAIIT (Salon International de l'Invention et de l'Innovation) complements national invention and innovation fairs, thus providing a continental platform to evaluate and celebrate the excellence of African researchers and entrepreneurs.

A prestigious recognition for the best talents

At each edition, numerous awards recognize the most promising creations, following rigorous evaluation by an international jury. These awards include:

The Grand Prix of the President of the Republic of the host country
The Best Female Inventor Award
The Special Prize for the most promising invention on the international market

SAIIT benefits from the support of numerous African and international partners who actively contribute to its influence through:

The awarding of specific prizes
The organization of training seminars
Information and capacity-building sessions on the challenges of innovation

Since the Cotonou edition in 2018, SAIIT has evolved to fully integrate the entrepreneurial dimension, becoming the African Exhibition of Invention and Innovative Business. This transformation is accompanied by a more professional organization and increased international recognition.
