  • Intellectual Property Training: OAPI welcomes its 15th cohort

The African Intellectual Property Organization (OAPI) celebrated the launch of the 15th cohort of its Master's program in Intellectual Property on Friday, January 24, 2025. The ceremony took place at the organization's headquarters under the chairmanship of Mr. Nicéphore FYLLA de Saint-Eudes, Congolese Minister of Industrial Development and Private Sector Promotion and current Chairman of the OAPI Board of Directors. The event featured two highlights: the welcoming of 39 new students from 15 African countries and the official installation of the scientific committee of the Denis EKANI Academy of Intellectual Property (APIDE). This committee brings together recognized experts in the field of intellectual property, including Professor Joseph FOMETEU of the University of Ngaoundéré and Dr. Yvon Laurier NGOMBE, a lawyer at the Paris Court of Appeal. The ceremony brought together prominent figures, including the Director General of OAPI, representatives from WIPO and the Embassy of Japan in Cameroon, the representative of the Minister of State, Minister of Higher Education of Cameroon, as well as members of the diplomatic corps of OAPI member states. This new graduating class reflects OAPI's ongoing commitment to training intellectual property experts to meet the growing needs of the African continent.
