Ladies and gentlemen, make way for the court!

During the first and second sessions of the year, the judges of the OAPI's Higher Appeals Commission (CSR) sat from April 12 to May 1, 2025, in Yaoundé. Addressing oppositions to trademark registrations and claims of ownership, the judges ruled over 26 cases on the docket for two weeks.

For this pleading, which took place in person and by videoconference, agents, industrial property consultants and lawyers from different OAPI member states made their pleadings.

The first session was held on April 14th, with 13 cases deliberated on April 17th.

Future legal actors for managing IP-related issues

With 13 cases also under consideration, the second session opened on April 21st. Following a pedagogical approach aimed at mentoring the next generation, students from the judicial section of the National School of Administration and Magistracy (ENAM) of Cameroon had the opportunity to attend the hearings on April 23rd. This experience will allow them to combine theory and practice in their learning. The deliberations took place on May 1st.
