  • In Libreville, Africa's brands prevail: OAPI rewards excellence

Libreville, October 9, 2025 — The Gabonese capital was adorned with its most beautiful lights to celebrate African creativity, audacity, and success on October 9, 2025.

In a vibrant atmosphere, filled with pride and emotion, the closing ceremony of the 5th edition of the OAPI Brand Awards took place. This event has become an essential event for champions of intellectual property and entrepreneurship on the continent.

Brands that embody the vision of an Africa that creates and shines

Four companies have entered their names into the 2025 list, four different stories but one message: Africa is moving forward, driven by the power of its brands.

– Dodo (Mali) – Grand Prix of the OAPI Brand Awards: a regional reference in the production of foams, symbol of African industrial know-how.

– KYA-SoP (Togo) – Regional Brand Award: A pioneer in energy production, it illustrates innovative and autonomous Africa.

– Mas et Famille Cooperative (Gabon) – SME Prize: Gabonese nature transformed into economic value through cosmetics and agri-food.

– Kakuka (Gabon) – Public Prize: the passion for books and culture, reinvented by a Gabonese publishing house.

These winners will benefit from technical support from OAPI to increase the protection and promotion of their brands in the years to come.

Exceptional partners in the spotlight

Because no success is built alone, OAPI wanted to salute its strategic partners.

Five Honorary Prizes were awarded by the Director General of OAPI:

• The World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO)

• The Gabonese Minister of Industry

• The President of the Federation of Enterprises of Gabon (FEG)

• The President of the Chamber of Commerce of Gabon

• The President of the Togolese Employers' Association

So many actors whose commitment strengthens the place of intellectual property as a driver of growth and regional cooperation.

A proud, creative and sovereign Africa

Before an audience of guests from Africa and around the world, the Director General of OAPI, Denis Bohoussou, welcomed the rise of an Africa that is reinventing itself through innovation: "The brand is much more than a distinctive sign. It is a strategic lever, the main channel through which our innovations reach the consumer."

For his part, Gabonese Minister of Industry Lubin NTOUTOUME paid tribute to "a creative, competitive Africa proud of its brands," emphasizing the central role of entrepreneurs in the continent's economic sovereignty.

OAPI, catalyst for an African brand economy

Under the theme "The brand, a lever for business performance", this fifth edition confirms OAPI's determination to make intellectual property a force for sustainable economic transformation.

Beyond the trophies, these Awards reflect an ambition: that of an Africa that protects, promotes and capitalizes on its creations to build an economy based on knowledge, quality and trust.

And already, the horizon is opening towards the 2027 edition. It will be the sixth.
