  • African innovation in the spotlight: Gold Medal in Geneva for a Senegalese invention!

The African Intellectual Property Organization (OAPI) was present at the 51st International Exhibition of Inventions in Geneva, one of the world's most prestigious events dedicated to technological innovation. Bringing together companies, universities, and inventors from around the globe each year, this exhibition provides an exceptional showcase for innovative solutions that are shaping the world of tomorrow.

A smart belt that revolutionizes pregnancy monitoring

OAPI supported the presentation of a remarkable invention: the "Connected smart medical belt for pregnancy monitoring", developed by the Senegalese company TRADEX AFRICA-SA, represented by Mr. Gueye Papa Amadou C. Doudou.

This innovative medical device offers continuous 24/7 monitoring of the mother's and fetus's health from the fourth month of pregnancy. Thanks to its advanced medical sensors, connectivity (4G/5G/Wi-Fi), intuitive mobile interface, and remote assistance system, this belt enables early detection of abnormalities and facilitates real-time communication with healthcare professionals and loved ones.

International recognition

The international jury awarded the Gold Medal to this invention, recognizing the excellence and transformative potential of this African technology for maternal health.

This participation, led by Mr. Hodonou Damien Sagbo Salihou , Patent Examiner in Chemistry at OAPI, is in line with the Organization's commitment to promoting African innovation on the international stage.
