The second session of the training of trainers for the OAPI judicial schools was officially launched on March 31, 2026 in Lomé. It opened with a ceremony presided over by the Keeper of the Seals, Togolese Minister of Justice and Human Rights Pacôme YAWOVI ADJOUROUVI , alongside the Minister Delegate in charge of Investment Promotion and Economic Sovereignty Dr Arthur TRIMUA, the Director General of OAPI, Denis BOHOUSSSOU and the Director General of INPI-France , Pascal FAURE .

Strengthening the integration of intellectual property into judicial training

Organised from March 30 to April 7, 2026 at the Centre for Training of Legal Professions in Togo in parallel with the OAPI-INPI-France joint commission, this session conducted in partnership with the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) brings together the Directors of training centres, as well as magistrates from Togo, Guinea and Congo.

In a context marked by the rise in IP disputes, the main objective is to structurally integrate intellectual property litigation into the training programs of judicial schools.

By adopting an approach focused on strengthening the skills of trainers, OAPI is implementing a sustainable strategy aimed at disseminating, throughout the judicial systems of its member states, a thorough understanding of the issues related to industrial property law . This approach is designed to guarantee a stable economic environment conducive to innovation and competitiveness.

Enhanced cooperation between OAPI and INPI-France

The day of March 31 was also marked by an audience granted by the Minister Delegate, Administrator of OAPI for Togo, to the Directors General of OAPI and INPI-France.

This meeting provided an opportunity to acknowledge the dynamism of the cooperation between the two institutions and to explore new perspectives on the valorization of intellectual property assets as financing levers.

Among the tools discussed, the Invention and Innovation Financing Mechanism was highlighted. This instrument aims to facilitate access to financing for innovative companies with strong industrial property rights, thereby helping to make intellectual property a true driver of competitiveness and growth.
