Ouagadougou , November 14, 2025 – The Denis EKANI Intellectual Property Academy (APIDE) continues its mission of strengthening skills and marks an important step in promoting collective copyright management in Africa.
Following an intensive three-month training course, 11 new professionals from diverse backgrounds received their Certificate of Aptitude in Collective Copyright Management (CAGeC), thus consolidating their skills to strengthen this essential pillar for the development of literary and artistic property in their respective countries.
High-level training for committed leaders
The participants followed an intensive program at the University Institute for Initial and Continuing Training (IUFIC) of Thomas Sankara University, combining:
- Theoretical courses on the legal and economic foundations of collective management;
- Practical case studies to understand the operational challenges facing the current challenges of the sector;
- Immersive internship at the Burkinabe Copyright Office (BBDA) to apply acquired knowledge in the field.
An educational approach that enabled them to master the mechanisms of collective management and to prepare themselves to meet the challenges related to the protection of works and the remuneration of authors.

These new Ambassadors for Collective Management are committed to promoting and strengthening systems for the collection and equitable distribution of creators' rights in their countries. Their mission is crucial: to guarantee transparency and support the development of cultural and creative industries in Africa.
