ARIPO Council of Ministers
On the sidelines of the 49th session of the ARIPO Board of Directors, the Director General of OAPI, Denis BOHOUSSOU, participated in the 20th session of the Council of Ministers held in Accra, bringing together key players in intellectual property in Africa. This strategic meeting marks an important step in the cooperation between the African Intellectual Property Organization (OAPI) and the African Regional Intellectual Property Organization (ARIPO).
Strengthened partnerships for African innovation
In his speech, the Director General reaffirmed the commitment of both organizations to continue establishing a harmonized mechanism facilitating the granting of intellectual property rights between their systems.
This initiative aims to simplify procedures for Member States and to create an environment conducive to innovation , creativity and economic competitiveness.
African leadership asserted on the international stage
Mr. BOHOUSSOU also stressed the importance of strengthening joint action between OAPI and ARIPO to increase African leadership in intellectual property in international forums.
This strategic cooperation will enable Africa to speak with one voice and influence decisions in global IP governance, ensuring that the interests of member states are fully taken into account.
Perspectives and commitments for a competitive and innovative Africa
The clear determination of OAPI and ARIPO to build a solid framework for making intellectual property a driver of development and economic transformation on the continent will therefore involve:
