the Director General of OAPI, Denis Bohoussou , received the Malian entrepreneur Boureima Doumbia, Chairman and CEO of Société Aminata Konaté and promoter of the Bara Musso, specializing in agri-food.
A fruitful and proud meeting for the entrepreneur, who came to inquire about the legal status of his IP titles protected at OAPI and to present his plans to extend his industrial and commercial activities to Central African countries including Cameroon.
A major user of industrial property, Mr. Boureima was accompanied by Mr. Hamidou Kone, an authorized representative with OAPI who assists him in managing his industrial property portfolio.
Registered with OAPI since 2009 and with a wide range of products and services, Bara Musso has established itself today as a multi-sector brand ranging from agri-food to soap making and transport, including insurance and construction… Currently, the Aminata Koné company is present in about ten countries including Senegal, Ivory Coast, Togo, France, the USA and Mauritania.
From a small sole proprietorship to a limited liability company (SARL) and finally a SA), the company began its activities with a product called Bara Musso's Chèba aromas; today it processes sixty-two (62) products and has:
- Twenty-three (23) Bara Musso boutiques,
- Three hundred and forty-two (342) points of sale in all regions of the country,
- Ten (10) factories in six countries and,
- Five hundred thousand (500,000) employees.
An inspiring journey and a fine example of entrepreneurial growth that reflects the importance of protecting IP assets, as an advantage for competitiveness, market conquest, and defense against counterfeiting.
Nominated for the Grand Prize at the 2021 OAPI Brand Awards in Douala, Cameroon, and a key figure in the Malian condiment industry, Boureima Doumbia proudly champions products made in Mali. As he so aptly states in his book, "The Destiny of a Man: The Birth of the Bara Musso Label": " My ambition is to make the Bara Musso an international brand sold worldwide. "
